A fakir named Watziznehm arrives from a distant Eastern kingdom and asks for the Gauls’ help in ending a terrible drought. Watziznehm’s daughter, Princess Orinjade, is about to be sacrificed to the gods in order to appease the rain god.

The Gauls agree to help, and Asterix, Obelix, and Cacofonix fly to the Eastern kingdom on Watziznehm’s magic carpet. When they arrive, they find that the kingdom is ruled by a tyrannical sultan named Watzit.

Asterix and Obelix soon discover that the drought is being caused by Watzit, who is diverting the water supply to his own palace gardens. They also learn that Watzit is planning to sacrifice Orinjade so that he can become immortal.

The Gauls must defeat Watzit and his army in order to save Orinjade and end the drought. They use their cunning and strength to outwit Watzit and his forces, and they eventually defeat him.
